I know a lady, and I know her well and she once had a dream and that dream came true. It came true not by fate but by first having the idea, forming a plan, going ahead with the idea and then hours and hours and hours of hard work. Her dream went from a small folded piece of paper, wagged in my face, to a full blown successful business. There is a branching that is taking the product to online stores as well as supplying retailers across Canada and rooting down to the U.S. Not too shabby for our home-girl Toni Desrosiers and her man Colin Johnson.
So what is Abeego you wonder? The name could mean anything but I guess my post title gives it away. It is a completely natural option for storing food. All I have to say is “goodbye plastic wrap!”
As the Abeego website says “plastic film has only existed for fifty odd years. The human race has been storing food for ages.”
This product uses ingredients from nature that are compatible with food storing. The warmish smell of beeswax permeates the fabric and is truly my favorite part about the product. I take a long sniff of the Abeego before I cover my food.
It’s hard not to!!
(I wish you could sniff your screen to smell it….go on, close your eyes and imagine)…
I first started using Toni’s Abeego Wraps which have held everything from sandwiches (of course) to burrito’s, cut veggies and the most exciting thing; blocks of cheese from the store. This is the nicest and easiest way to rid your food of the plastic wrap that it comes in! Just remove the cheese from it’s original package and wrap it in an Abeego wrap or Flat and you will have cheese that stays fresh longer than it would have if it were kept in it’s plastic counterpart!
The second product that I use is the Abeego Snack. This little handy object is great for kids lunches. My Kiddo has used his for nuts or small snacks. It packs easily into a lunch bag along with an Abeego Wrap. The shape and design are truly unique and a cute addition to the lineup.
The third and honestly the most used Abeego product in our household is the Abeego Flats. I think this is my favourite mostly because you really can use these little ditty’s for almost anything! I cover bowls of course, but I also wrap food in them, especially when I am in a pinch for time. Grab-and-wrap it up! I am also going to try using my older ones as drawer liners once they get too worn to wrap food. The sticky beeswax coating will give it the grip it needs to hold my cutlery drawer in place.
I am proud to know these friends who took a dream and made it happen. I knew they would. I remember Toni telling me that she would be successful with this product.
Here is the amazing couple at one of their first little booths back in the day when they first began their business.
I love you guys!
